The Virgin Gorda might literally translate into the Fat Virgin, but don't expect to actually see any here. Welcome to the land of the beautiful - Sports Illustrated photographed Tyra Banks in her bikini here in 1997.

Rosewood Little Dix BayWe recommend Rosewood Little Dix Bay. Founded in 1964 and completely refreshed in 2006, you'll have plenty of space to stretch out on the crescent moon shaped beach. All 100 rooms - and a bunch of 3 and 4-bedroom villas equipped with private pools - have air conditioning and view of the sea. Both the sophisticated Pavilion and Sugar Mill restaurants as well as the Beach Grill are open air and feature contemporary Caribbean cuisine.

Don't go if you have more money than sense and like to be pampered like royalty. The vibe here is down to earth and relaxed.

Curacao

Curacao might be the C of the A,B,C islands but it gets top grade in our books. If you're a power-shopper, stick close to Willemstead but drive an hour west and you'll discover paradise - perched on a limestone bluff.

Archeologists have discovered more than 600 Mayan sites in Belize, and you could spend your entire vacation exploring. But the ruins and rainforest can wait because the beach is calling. If love is a many splendored thing, then love on the beach of Ambergris Caye is delish beyond your wildest dreams.

Matachica Resort, BelizeA stone's throw from the world's second largest Great Barrier Reef, the luminescent sandy crescent that surrounds Matachica Beach Resort is waiting for you. If you're checking in to chill out, throw yourself (and your lover) into one of the many hammocks or the spa tent...ahhhh!

The layout of the resort is fun and whimsical with the 21 cabanas forming a sorbet-colored bouquet, surrounded by palm trees on the beach - each one is painted a different color. When you need sustenance, the Mambo Restaurant will satisfy. We promise.

Don't go if cutting yourself completely off from civilization scares you.
