Sally Kern's beliefs about gays pervasive through Oklahoma?

There are a lot of places in the US I adore - San Francisco, Amelia Island in Florida, New York City. But after hearing Sally Kern's gay-bashing and learning that this isn't the first time she publicly shared her thoughts on gay lifestyle, Oklahoma isn't so high on my list.

"I'm not gay bashing, but according to God's word that is not the right kind of lifestyle," she said. "It has deadly consequences."

And she's disappointed that someone tapped her without her knowledge or consent. We're disappointed you said those things in the first place, Ms. Kern.

Karen Parsons, an Oklahoma activist says the whole incident is an embarrassment to Oklahoma. "Hate speech has such negative consequences," said Parsons. "She's a legislative leader and people pick up on her words and they take them to be the truth."

Hopefully, in this case, Oklahoma will work hard to repair their tainted reputation.

What is ignorant about being able to read the word of God and see clearly that He hates homosexuals and their pernicious lifestyle? These comments should be commended. Is it bigoted to mention that pedophiles are evil? It wasn't until the gay movement kicked out the pedophiles and stopped whining about age of consent laws that their attempt to normalize their grievous perversion made any traction at all.

....you do realize that pedophiles can be straight as well, right? hmmm. a pedophile can be a man who longs for sex with a prepubescent boy OR sex with a prepubescent girl. Not to be confused with Ephebophilia, which is longing for sex with adolescents up to the age of 18 (which would be the people "whining about the age of consent laws"). Also, actually, the 'gay movement' began making traction (this century) during the sexual liberation of the 1970s and continued strong until to this day. i certainly wouldnt group pedophiles and homosexuals together and say that one is the same as the other. They have no consistent relationship concerning sexual tendencies. Not all homosexuals are pedophiles and not all pedophiles are homosexuals. Not to mention that one is lawful and the other is not. You bigoted idiot.

These comments should obviously be rejected, but please do not associate all of Oklahoma with what one state representative said. There are many gay men and lesbians in Oklahoma and many open-minded people who accept them.

While there are many Oklahomans that are accepting of homosexuals, the fact that Ms. Kern was elected with 65% of the votes, tell us that there are still a lot of ignorant people. I'm guessing she'll be our next president in 8 years. Unfortunately, this will spread all over the United States and she will become a hero to the many ignorant bigots. Every church in the nation will hail her as the next annointed one. Rev. Phelps will have her join his church as an honorary member.
