Not ready for Monday? Slip out early, or stay out late after work tonight, and enjoy some incredible Cinco de Mayo festivities. May 5th is only a regional holiday in Mexico (the national independence day is actually September 16th) but in the USA, Cinco de Mayo is a vibrant celebration of Mexican culture.

Cinco de Mayo SalsaCinco de Mayo SalsaFor the ultimate experience head to California for street parties and parades. The holiday gained popularity when the Mexican community in California got involved.

But if you're already in Mexico, soak up some sun at the Pueblo's commemorate Cinco de Mayo with a reenactment of their famous victory over the French.

From parades in Chicago to yesterday's 10,000 strong crowds in San Jose, Hispanic American communities started celebrating this past weekend. And the party is still going strong.

If you made a pilgrimage to one of the parades, we won't tell you how to enjoy the party - but corona and tequila are mandatory today. Even though the official cause for celebration is an 1862 victory, the real fiesta is all about culture, pride and families.

If you're still at home, head to the party next year - start planning by taking your girlfriends out for margaritas tonight.

Do you and your friends have a Cinco de Mayo tradition? Let us know!

Actually, where I sit currently (on a barrier island) has been under water many times. Staying on an island is scary. We leave if it is over a CAT 1. The most important thing for us is to fill our gas tanks at the first inkling that there may be a storm. Water, medicines, non perishable food, they're all really important. Honestly, if it is a big storm, alcohol later serves as pay for work. We stock up on EVERYTHING. We start eating out of the freezer days before (like we did tonight, getting ready for Earl). You don't want much to go bad. Then we tie up all the trash cans, secure grills, and hold on for dear life :)"

The buses in Mexico are very comfortable like flying in a plane they often have movies and it is safer.Plan your trip and don't travel alone especially if you are female.Women traveling alone are a target Good luck and stay alert."
