Deltalina isn't the first sexy flight attendant
As the latest step in their rebranding activity, Delta's new safety video was supposed to be a refreshing start to passengers' trips. Instead the video went viral - talked about on almost every popular site.
Most agree with our earlier assessment - modern, neat, and hopefully a way to get passengers to pay attention to safety videos. But some responses are hitting flight attendants the wrong way.
Chris Elliot's response has been a full-on search to determine once and for all which airline has made the sexiest safety video to date. His picks are interesting, from an Air France demo that made the list due to a (gorgeous) flight attendant with a French accent:
To the cartoon movie produced by Virgin Atlantic.
While his attitude to the story won't help flight attendants fighting sex-kitten stereotyping, it does seem to be a popular one on the internet.
Comments like:
"Oh my! I'd like this FA's phone number, please. ;-o" (from the Elliot blog) and:
Katherine Lee as Deltalina "That sexy finger wag just made me melt! What a classic beauty! Those eyes, lips and perfect face are from heaven. Enjoy your 15 minutes Katherine and I hope it turns into much more for you." (from Youtube) have turned the 5 minute video into a sensation.
More surprising are the comments coming from those who don't think Katherine holds a candle to Angelina Jolie.
"That woman is so unattractive that it was hard to watch the whole video. And I didn't see what the big deal is about...it was just the same old safety instructions that you hear/see on every flight," said one person on Go Girlfriend, while comments at Jaunted doubt that Katherine Lee's pouty lips are anything close to the real thing.
What's your take on Deltalina? A marketing masterpiece or an anti-feminist mistake?
