Pueblos operating casinos for revenue isn't news. But pueblos rolling out a luxury resort, nationally ranked golf course, fine dining and a whirlwind of native activities is.

The Santa Ana Pueblo in New Mexico owns Tamaya Hyatt Regency. But still, you ask, what makes it so special?

Instead of individual payouts, all revenue is reinvestedTamaya Hyatt RegencyTamaya Hyatt Regency back into the resort to support social services - homes for everyone, a library, after-school programs and scholarships that guarantee every child (with a minimum grade-point average) a university education.

From the bellhops to the accountants to the cleaning staff, more than 700 people claim ownership of Tamaya Hyatt Regency. And all the owners on the Santa Ana Pueblo are responsible for running the resort.

During the building of Tamaya, the tribal elders asked all the construction workers to leave for a few hours one day. The elders took to the masonry and Pueblo Feng ShuiPueblo Feng Shuiembedded symbols into pathways and walls throughout the resort. No one is quite sure what the strange symbols mean, but people who work here refer to them as tribal feng shui.
