Canada's National Newspaper & GoGirlfriend
Toronto's Globe and Mail tells readers to "Get Out of Town, Sister"
Gal-Pal PowerGoGirlfriend knows women take travel seriously. The Globe and Mail, Canada's national newspaper knows it too.
GG spent a long time investigating how women research travel online. What we learned didn't surprise us. We call each other girlfriends, but the cute stops there. We want concise, clear information delivered with whip-smart humor.
Don't patronize us. Don't promise us the moon, but deliver a dirt road.
Most of us are time poor, so we won't return to a site that wastes it. We make more than 80% of travel purchases and we are the largest (and growing) market online now. It's time to pay attention:
-
When we shop online, we do it to save time and money and we're often looking for specific information (Marketing to Women).
-
Of those of us who research travel online, 82% book online as well (Travel Industry Association of America-TIA).
-
We buy airline tickets, lodging and rental cars and we're starting to buy cultural event tickets, theme/amusement park tickets, travel packages and tickets for sporting events (TIA).
-
Almost 75% of us used search engines prior to making our purchases (comScore) using generic terms rather than a specific travel brand - which gives us the power to comparison shop.
It's time to get outta town, sista!
