South Walton, between Panama City and Destin

Seaside is the ideal small town where a stroll down main street connects to you everyone who's important in your life. If you've ever watched Gilmore Girls, you'll recognize the tight-knit community where you know all your neighbors and everyone gets along.

Seaside BeachSeaside BeachSeaside was the model for creating many towns around the United States, being the first of its kind to perfect urbanization through narrow streets and picket fences. With a half mile of beautiful white sand, Seaside beach is perfect for your romantic getaway, your dream wedding on one of the 9 beach pavilions or you ideal honeymoon.

Accommodations: You won't find any skyscraper hotel chains blocking the sun here because Seaside prohibits buildings over 4 stories tall. Choose between lavish cottages, vacation homes or trendy B&B's for your relaxing holiday.

Seaside Beach Local Activities:  Explore the unique shops, art galleries and restaurants all easy to get to by foot or bicycle. During the day, enjoy the emerald green waters and soft white sand and watch the breathtaking sunset with a picnic on the beach. During the winter months you can watch tree lighting ceremonies, while jazz and art festivals rule the summer and spring. And in autumn, it's all about the tours and seafood sampling.

Seaside Beach Area Attractions: The town of Seaside is an attraction within itself. Explore the narrow streets, full of galleries, restaurants and shops built in the creation of New Urbanism.  Best known for being the location for the popular Truman Show starring Jim Carey, Seaside has incorporated pieces of the set into the town's character.

Seaside Beach Area Events:

  • Cajun Celebration (January): A celebration of Mardi Gras in the town Amphitheatre.
  • Seaside Jazz Festival (May): Experience a weekend full of authentic jazz music.
  • Turn on the Town (November): Seaside Beach's annual parade, the arrival of Santa and lighting up the town Christmas tree.

Seaside Nightlife: Some restaurants offer live entertainment, but if you're looking to party all night long, a trip into Destin or Fort Walton will be necessary.

Seaside Beach Weather: Summer month's can reach up to 91F, and drop to 50F during the winter.

Seaside Facilities: No need for the car! The beach, restrooms, shops and restaurants are all accessible by foot or bicycle.

Beach Fees: The beach is free and easily accessible to the public.

  • On Tour Bus Crash in Tortola – Caribbean Princess Passenger Dies, Jan said "We were also on the ship with our friends, had spent the day at the beach in Tortola where the slider on my Omega came off, "broke" and lost. I had just purchased it on board the ship the day prior. But nothing can compare to the loss of a family member. The Captain had everyones attention for the announcement. Captain Draper done a great job informing the passengers of the accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rumphrey family."

My heart was so heavy over the thought of his dear parents losing their son on what was to be a very happy time. My heart is with his family and I will pray for them."

  • On Tour Bus Crash in Tortola – Caribbean Princess Passenger Dies, Julia Rosien said "Thanks for posting your comment. I was very impressed with the way Captain Draper handled the situation and I told him so. He made it a priority to inform all passengers and eliminated rumor and speculation. It's nice to know the other passengers involved felt the driver saved their lives. The roads in Tortola are terrible and I'm sure much skill is involvd navigating them safely. I hope you enjoyed your cruise, despite this tragedy. Julia"
