Spa Minérale ~ Haven on Earth

Girlfriend spa in the heart of Virginia

To spa, shop or sightsee? That's the question I always ask myself when traveling. Thankfully, I found the solution at Lansdowne Resort - book a long enough stay and then it's just a matter of scheduling.

Lansdowne Resort, Leesburg VirginiaIf you've never been to Lansdowne Resort in Virginia, you can read about our great stay, our shopping adventures and to compliment your relaxation, be sure to read up on our wine tasting adventures in DC County too! From a base of the Lansdowne Resort, your options for activities abound.

Spa day at Lansdowne Resort

When's the last time you enjoyed a spa day with your favorite gal pals? If the answer's as hard to find as smooth patch of skin on your elbows, listen up. Landsdowne Resort's Spa Minérale was made for girlfriend getaways - 12,000 sq feet of luxury spa just for you and your girls. Sure, there are treatments for guys - but they had you in mind when they built the place.

Spa MinéraleSpa Minérale features a steam room, sauna and whirlpool all within your change room, which means you can hang with your girlfriends relaxing au natural before and after the treatment.  When you're done soaking, steaming and baking, continue to unwind in either the co-ed or women-only lounge and yes, wine is served.

We were told to arrive 15 minutes prior to our treatments. You won't want to soak off all those healing oils so lovingly applied so my advice is arrive an hour ahead of time to fully enjoy. Your tired and aching muscles will thank you.

Spa Minérale menu

Hot Stone massage at Spa MineraleBesides a full menu of facials, body treatments, massages and bundled treatments, Spa Minérale offers a wide assortment of salon services. Haircuts, colors and specialty scalp treatments as well as waxing and hair removal services top off their menu.

I began with a Spa Minérale Salt Glo treatment, which translated means 50 minutes of sheer nirvana. After being completely exfoliated and rinsed under the Vichy showers attacking all my pressure spots, the treatment moves next to a larger shower with more shower heads than should be legally allowed. All of this is followed by a soothing application of body butter. From there I moved to the hot stone massage. Truthfully, it was a wonder I could find my way back to the change room, never mind get myself dressed again.

co-ed lounge at Spa MineraleMr. GoGirlfriend enjoyed the men's facial (which was timed perfectly before Movember) and moved onto the aromatherapy massage. "I'm always happy to sample spa treatments for GoGirlfriend, "said Mr. GG. "The facial was relaxing but the massage ... well ... let's just say my muscles have never been happier."

I wish we were returning for the holidays as they're featuring an eggnog body scrub (YUM!) and chocolate candy cane pedicure (Double YUM!!).

Après spa

Crooked Billet for lunchAfter our morning at the spa, we dined at the Crooked Billet, overlooking the Potomac and enjoyed a (mostly) healthy lunch. We were tempted to walk along the riverside or enjoy a game of golf but my retail addiction tapped her well-manicured nails on the table and shook her head. Shopping it was, which you can read about it in my next post.
