Mountainside house is a must-see landmark on the way to Chattanooga

It was ultra-modern when it landed in Tennessee in 1970. Now the landmark (or eyesore, depending on your perspective) is for sale to the highest bidder. Can't get to Tennessee to place your bid? No worries - it's for sale on eBay.

The homes looks like two pancakes squished together and is ringed with small square windows. The 6 landing Flying Saucer Houselegs jutting out beneath the base give onlookers the impression it just landed. Can't figure out how you get inside? A retracting staircase, of course.

The house was built just after the cancellation of the original Star Trek series, about the same time UFO landings and Area 51 became table talk around the country. We're told everything inside is operated by "futuristic" dials and controls.

"This is an opportunity to own a unique property and is ideal for that weekend get away," said real estate agent Terry Posey. "If you're into unique homes, space ships, flying saucers, Star Trek, a mountain get away home, or investment properties, this is your opportunity."

I'm not sure I'd want to live there. The sloping ceilings and circular walls would make for a decorating nightmare. The current owner bought the circular home a short 4 months ago, but he's ready to sell again. No word if it's haunted by Aliens...

It's a landmark worth seeing if you're on that twisting road leading to Chattanooga's Signal Mountain. And you won't be the only gawker there.
