Herbal remedy falling victim to its own success

Horizontal MamboHorizontal MamboLooking for a way to spice up your love life? If all your college tricks failed to heat up your horizontal mambo and you're considering medicinal reinforcement, scratch a quickie trip to Uganda off your list.

Ugandans have a secret, a naughty one that the makers of Viagra apparently didn't know about. A tree from deep in the rainforest has been helping men reach their potential for centuries. Their potential in bed, that is...

Bark from the tree is crushed and added to water to make a powerful elixir that locals swear works within a few hours. People here are too poor to afford pricy chemical cocktails, but impotence is a persistent problem in this part of the world (it's a side effect of malnutrition and stress-related diseases).

But success, careless harvesting and over-use have put the tree on the endangered list.

The trees cannot be domesticated, so growing them in nurseries is out. To help, scientists are teaching locals taught how to debark the trees in a sustainable way.

For now, we recommend cozying up with your year book for inspiration. You'll definitely need a stiffy (we mean a drink, of course) after that.
