Blissed Out Travel - GoGirlfriend Takes a Spa Vacation

GoGirlfriends take a brief hiatus to balance our chakras

GoGirlfriend has been online for only a short time, but we're packing up our blissmobile and taking off for the GG Takes a Spa VacationGG Takes a Spa Vacationspa for a couple of weeks. There's so much we love about travel and - writing about travel - but there comes a time when you just can't ignore the call of the spa. Right?

GG is a collective labor of love, fondly nurtured by some incredible women travelers who generously share their experiences. We thrive and grow because of their refusal to travel any other way than the way they want. Women travelers rock!

  • Grace Cheng and Leyla Giray are living our dream, traveling and working - can you get a better gig in life?
  • Casey Wohl, the Getaway Girl, shows us how important it is to celebrate our gal pals.
  • Gretchen Roberts make us feel not so foolish for our wine-aficionado wanna-be-dreams.
  • Kathleen Ameche reminds us that no matter how strong and independent we feel, safety always comes first.
  • Carly Milne is just so damn cool and reading about her adventures lets us travel everyday - even if only online.

We'll be back in August - de-stressed and buffed and soothed - and looking forward to traveling into the autumn with all of you.

Wouldn't a spa treatment feel fabulous right about now? Come on, you know you wanna!

See you in August, 2008!

  • On 5 Nudist Resorts that Will Blow Your Mind, John Ruze said "Hi Julia, There is a brand new, very popular nudist resort you should think about reporting on in your next article about naturism. It is the New Terra Cotta Clothing Optional Resort and Spa in sunny Palm Springs, California.. The original Terra Cotta Inn was a fantastic nude resort. Repeat guests from around the world stayed there. TCI was sold in Nov 2015 and greatly missed. Well, this July 2017, it was revived at a new location in Palm Springs. The site is HotelTerraCotta.com. Guests are super happy. It's perfect for couples and girlfriend getaways. And Tom and Mary Clare from the original Terra Cotta Inn work with us, so it has the same relaxing, fun feel. "

  • On An Open Letter to Hotels Everywhere, Lynn said "I agree on the night light thing. Since hotels have none, I end up keeping the bathroom light on all night with the door ajar. Windows. I understand in the litigious US of A, hotels need to prevent folks from throwing themselves out the windows (or else the hotel could be sued?!!). Ok, fine. But for those of us who dislike A/C and only use it when absolutely necessary, can't we still have the option for some FRESH AIR? There ARE ways to allow windows to open up only so much, while at the same time preventing an entire body from throwing itself out the window. Bedskirts. Am I the only one who gets the skeevies when I see hotel beds with bedskirts that hit the floor? I always had images of food crumbs, bugs, and god only knows what...as being hidden behind that bedskirt. I'd much rather a bedskirt that's at least 2" above the (usually carpetted) floor. Towels. Can't we get nicer towels that don't feel like cardboard? Carpetting. Am I the only one who never walks barefoot in a hotel room ...esp when there's carpet? Blech. I'm sure those things are very rarely cleaned. "

  • On Travel Advice for Visiting a New Country, NJB said "Hi Stacy, great article! Just wanted to say, you can get an international SIM card that works in multiple countries and on cruise ships. They're not quite as cheap as a SIM card from the country you're visiting, but they're cheaper than a roaming plan on your domestic SIM and will save you a lot of time if you're visiting several countries. I got mine from Telestial, which also offers a range of cheap travel phones and other useful products (adapters, etc)."
