Runners from around the world are about to start the biggest marathon of their lives. These dedicated runners love to travel to new race destinations; but to get into the Boston, runners need spectacular qualifying times. Personally, I see marathons as more of a spectator sport, but I vastly admire the 25 000 competitors who beat incredible odds this year to qualify for the prestigious race.

Training RunTraining RunThis year's Boston runners were lucky enough for a weekend of beautiful weather before they hit the starting line, and spectators are looking forward to the same luxury. By the time the first wave of runners hit the pavement at 9:25, Boston should be well on its way to today's 58 degree high.

If you're in Boston, you can catch the start of the Race along Main Street in Hopkinton (they start in waves, so runners will be heading out as late as 10:30 am. If you're more interested in the finish line, head to Copley Square (expect to see runners at about 11:30). But for a decent view, reserve a place there soon. For more viewing spots, check out the complete route map, and bring plenty of water and snacks so you don't miss a thing.

If you're not lucky enough to be enjoying the Boston weather, you can watch a live webcast at WCSN.com. Can't slack that much at work? Keep an eye on the Boston Athletic Association's Leaderboard to stay on top of race news.

And yes, we adore the Bay of Fundy :-) While I'll agree it's no longer parka weather in your neck of the woods, it's not quite string bikini weather either. Shall we toast to it and let the beer warm us up? Happy St Paddy's Day! Julia"

For sure, there will be lots of fun times down here around St Paddy's day but I just want to send you a correction to say you certainly won't be needing a parka? to visit at this time of year. It's +8 to +10 degress Celius (that's in the 50s F for our American friends) - definitely well above parka weather. haha So nice that the birds are chirping and the maple sap is flying out of the trees and, ultimately, on to our pancakes. Happy spring! Terri the Bay of Fundy blogger bayoffundy.blogspot.com "

  • On Tour Bus Crash in Tortola – Caribbean Princess Passenger Dies, Jan said "We were also on the ship with our friends, had spent the day at the beach in Tortola where the slider on my Omega came off, "broke" and lost. I had just purchased it on board the ship the day prior. But nothing can compare to the loss of a family member. The Captain had everyones attention for the announcement. Captain Draper done a great job informing the passengers of the accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rumphrey family."
