Say goodbye to lugging golf clubs through airports

Traveling for GolfTraveling for GolfAside from the sheer drudgery of dragging your clubs through the airport, there's the creeping fear that they'll either a) arrive in more pieces than the manufacturer intended, or b) never be seen again once they disappear down the conveyor belt at that ominous "Oversized Luggage" portal.

If all the planets align, you're likely to use them just a couple of times, unless you're on a dedicated golf holiday. And unless you've got a tee time at a top course, you're taking your chances with rental clubs.

Gary Miller feels your pain and has done something about it.

Along with partners, Steve Wolinsky and Neil Greenbaum, he started GolfClubsAway.com, the first online golf-club rental company. For just $35 a day for Nike clubs or $45 for Callaways, the service will ensure a full set, bag, sleeve of balls and tees is waiting at your hotel when you arrive.

For a one-time fee of $10, you can even customize the set with, for example, more fairway woods and hybrids than long irons. Delivery and pickup of the clubs is included in the price.

The service is available only in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties in Florida at present, but expansion is in the works.
