When traveling leads to amazing adventures
From decadent all-inclusive resorts to hiking the rainforest, we at GoGirlfriend embrace travel - all kinds of travel. In fact, we'll never say no to travel. Whether it's a business trip to a sunny destination (where we can sneak in an hour of exploring time) or a trip planned with full on hedonism the goal, we're in.
Little black dressTravel, like your little black dress, is always appropriate.
GoGirlfriend recently celebrated it's 5th birthday and we're honored to be home for some amazing, life-changing travel stories. From the outset, GG was designed as a community blog, a place of sharing and learning about travel. We're incredibly thankful for all who've visited and shared - we wouldn't be here without you.
Say Yes to TravelDuring the month of November we celebrated all kinds of YES travel stories. What does GoGirlfriend's YES issue mean for you? YES means different things to each of us, but it starts with stepping outside your comfort zone and being open to possibility. Taking a chance might be as thrilling as bungee-jumping the falls but it might also be taking off for the weekend with no destination in mind - and no reservations...
Are you ready for YES?
Craig and CaitlinWhen Travel & Fairytales Collide - Just over two years ago I embarked on a two-week journey of Italy that would test my independence, give way to a cultural awakening and introduce me to my now husband and father of soon-to-be baby boy. Read more about Caitlin's fairytale adventure.
Volunteering in the Dominican Republic - I decided to go with an organization and signed up to teach English to young children in an impoverished area just outside of Santo Domingo for 12 weeks. The organization that I travelled with required that all teachers complete a "Teaching English as a Foreign Language" course ($1,000). It was also required that we pay in advance for the cost of our accommodations and food (which included 2 meals - breakfast and supper). Read more about Kelly's Dominican volunteer experience.
Finland Under the Midnight SunFinland: Dancing Under the Midnight Sun - On my list of top ten places I need to see before I died, Finland was nowhere near that list. Not that I had anything against it, but growing up in Canada I was already familiar with wilderness and snow. Travel always meant white sand beaches with crystal clear blue water for me. Read more about Carly's incredible night in Finland.
Girlfriend Getaway in Los Angeles - It wasn't until last year that I made my very first trip to LA, a city I'd wanted to visit for so long. Nikki, my fashionista cousin, and I booked our trip and could not wait to get there to see celebrities, indulge in great shopping, sample fabulous food and enjoy the fantastic weather. Read more about Casey's LA getaway.
hurricane survivalSurviving Hurricane Wilma - When I first saw what was to become Hurricane Wilma, I was in the Charlotte, North Carolina airport waiting for my connecting flight to Cancun, Mexico. At the time, the storm was a tropical depression. And I had seven days of sun, sand and drinks ahead of me. Read more about how Chris' showdown with a hurricane.
Zipline Adventure Tour in the Caribbean - In all honesty, any apprehension we felt about zip lining faded away the moment we arrived at Rain Forest Adventures, St. Lucia. Well most of them - the rest we let loose in our screams as we soared across the canopy. Read more about my zipline experience.
