For travelers with mobility restrictions, the thought of navigating through a large airport without a wheelchair seems a daunting step. And taking a flight with a wheelchair equally stressful. Most airlines are happy to accommodate and make as stress-free as possible your experience.
Calling ahead to your airline to inform them of a mobility need allows them to factor that into your service experience.- Make sure you mention the mobility need and whether a seat with extra leg room is required.
- Meet the airline team at the check-in station where they can have a wheelchair and attendant available to assist you through security and to the boarding area of your flight.
- Security becomes a breeze as they guide you through an accelerated process for you and family traveling with you.
- Often priority boarding allows you more time to get on the plane and seated.
- Upon landing, a wheelchair and attendant is waiting at the gate to escort you through arrival to the baggage area and to your transportation.
- Shipping of your personal mobility devices (walkers, wheelchairs and other needs) is free by most airlines.
With customer service geared to make your experience as smooth as possible, most airlines have stepped up very well to assist and accommodate passengers when they know the needs to support them.
