Cruise Manners - Are You Minding Yours?

Sure, it's your vacation and you're here to have fun - but so is everyone else. Go ahead and get carried away, but don't do it at the expense of your fellow passengers.

  • Follow the dress code: No one wants to eat dinner beside someone dressed in smelly gym clothes. Dress for your evening meals as if you're going to a restaurant.
  • Quiet down during the muster: Knowing where to go in an emergency may save your life. Listen to the instructions and put on the life jacket. It won't kill you to pay attention for 10 minutes but it might kill you if you don't.
  • Don't hog the lounge chairs: You don't need to reserve a chair all morning if you're not planning to use it until the afternoon.
  • Don't jog before daybreak: There are staterooms below the gym and working out or jogging on deck before designated times is rude.
  • Dial down your noise: If you must talk on a cell phone, keep your voice down or step outside restaurants and lounges.
  • Be a considerate smoker: If you must smoke, do it only in designated areas.
  • Control your kids: Respect adults who may not be traveling with kids, and keep your kids out of adult-only areas.
  • Wait your turn: This should be a no-brainer, but no one likes waiting and your enjoyment should never come at the expense of someone else.
  • Stop complaining: No one wants to hear your grumbling while waiting in line. Instead of making everyone around you miserable, chat with your neighbor and you just might discover something new worth trying on the cruise.
