Snow in Baghdad?

For the first time that anyone can remember

Let it Snow!Let it Snow! The weather in North America has been frightful this winter. Tornados, freak winter thunderstorms and amazing amounts of snow.

But in Baghdad, where the closest they come to the white stuff is hail, it's snowing. For the first time that anyone can remember.

Unlike North Americans who elevate complaining about the weather to an art form and could be millionaires if you paid them for all their weather complaints, residents in Baghdad are declaring it an omen of peace.

"A few minutes ago, I was covered with snowflakes," 60-year-old Hassan Zahar told Reuters. In my hair, on my shoulders. I invite all the people to enjoy peace, because the snow means peace."

Traffic policeman, Murtadha Fadhil thinks it's a sign of a new Iraq. "It's a sign of hope. We hope Iraqis will purify their hearts and politicians will work for the prosperity of all Iraqis."

When was the last time you saw snow as a good omen, something to be celebrated?
