Getting lost and finding your way...
When I led the GoGirlfriend Development Team in 2007, I believed in it, nurtured and fed it with everything in me. But the company that owned it shifted focus and moved onto other ventures.
Julia RosienGoGirlfriend is back on the map and I’m leading the charge again, not as an employee but as a full-out owner.
Whether I’m charting my own path or following a trusted route, travel (like life in general) is awe-inspiring, exhilarating, perplexing and sometimes even a blissfully funny ride.
I began traveling in the back of my parent’s station wagon, fighting over the window seat and cheesies with my brothers. There were no iPods, cell phones or onboard DVDs – just the blissful unbounded oneness of family.
It wasn’t long before my travels became a springboard for following my passion. I’ve since traded backseat squabbles for adventurous, luxurious, fun and sometimes quaint travel. Each time I step out of my life to travel, my guiding light is still the fun of those first travels as a kid.
Some days I pull out those old roadmaps I packed away so long ago. They’re dog-eared and creased, but I recognize the landmarks so well I can recite them from memory. Then I see a new turn-off or an unexpected vantage point that changes everything. And it makes me wonder if this new landmark has been there all along and I’ve missed it.
My roadmaps guide me, but I like to drive blind too. Sometimes getting lost can take me to places I’d never considered visiting. You see, I’ve learned that the great thing about getting lost, is finding your way home again. I lost GoGirlfriend last year, but finding it feels like coming home.
Whether your maps are new or dog-eared like mine, some of the most important adventures you’ll take are the unplanned ones, the spontaneous trips that land Ready for Adventure?you in a cabin in Vermont instead of on the beach in Florida. After all, what you do while you’re there is more important than the scenery.
Join me and the *New* GoGirlfriend team as we embark on a brand new adventure – it’s going to be a fabulous ride!
