Travel to Cornucopia at Whistler

Food, wine and beautiful views – what more could you ask for?

Wine me, dine me Whistler

Being based in Vancouver, one of my favorite weekend getaways is Whistler, BC – my official home away from home.  Most people associate Whistler with skiing and snowboarding, but I actually do neither. The funny thing is, I’m always busy when I visit. The resort area offers not only a number of things for the outdoor enthusiast but also a wide range of events throughout the year.

Whistler's Cornicopia celebrationsOne of my favorite events hosted in Whistler is Cornucopia, a celebration of food and wine held each November.  The weekend event has evolved into an eleven day affair, full of seminars on food, wine, beer, spirits, many after parties and new this year Nourish, which hosted informational seminars on healthy cooking as well as movement and meditation.

I try to attend Cornucopia every year and every year it’s a little different. Take a stroll with me through the events I attended this year…

Crush Gala Grand Tasting

wine sampling at Whistler's CornicopiaThis is a favorite of mine. What’s not to love about sampling your way through dozens of wines (and a few spirits too) from around the world? The 3 hour long event includes a silent auction, snacks of cheese, crackers, chocolate and amazing meat samples from Sidecut which is a restaurant located in the Four Seasons to cleanse your pallet. It’s highly recommended to eat prior to the event – almost every one offers a special Cornucopia menu designed to suit a variety of budgets.

An Evening of Scotch & Cigars

If wine’s not your thing, this is a great opportunity to sample some of the finest single malt Scotch whisky and cigars. If you’re interested in learning more about Scotch, what better way than to be educated by some of the industry’s most knowledgeable. If you already have your taste buds tuned to your favorite Scotch, sit back and relax in the divine FireRock Lounge in Whistler’s Westin Resort and Spa.

Cornucopia Night Market – A Taste of Asia

Cornucopia Night Market – A Taste of AsiaThis is a definitely a fun evening out. The night market is set-up similar to outdoor markets in Shanghai or Shinjuku and you’ll enjoy a broad sampling of Asian cuisine along with wines, beers and liquors designed to complement the exotic cuisines. You will also love shopping for artisan wares and various other products for purchase around the market.

Considering adding Cornucopia to your 2014 travel itinerary? I’d love to chat with you about how I can help you make that dream become a reality. Book any vacation package (air/hotel) now until December 31st 2013 with me and receive $50 off per person for travel up to June 30th 2014.
