Southeast of Bridgetown in the Parish of Christ Church

  • Beach geography: Cool off in moderate waves without an undertow along a 300-metre curl of white sand. Swimming areas are a little rocky but are unlikely to keep you out of the water.
  • Ease of access: Conveniently located off the main road.
  • Extra costs: No extra costs.
  • Beach amenities: At Rockley you’ll find vendors selling clothing and local jewelry, shops, restaurants and bars all along the bustling Coast, a mini-mall, food outlets across the street, a public restroom near the boardwalk, an outdoor shower, changing rooms, a parking lot and a bus stop, trees for shade as well as beach chair and umbrella rentals.
  • Special note: Sandwiched between the vivacious St. Lawrence Gap and Barbados’ spruce capital, Bridgetown.

Common activities at Rockley include windsurfing, sunfish sailing, snorkeling, boogie boarding, body surfing, water sporting and local souvenir shopping. Head eastwards to St. Lawrence, the island’s party capital, or westward for Barbados’ dapper capital, Bridgetown. And when the sun goes down, enjoy live music from the Tiki Bar right on the beach.

visit St. Lawrence GapIf you’re looking for nocturnal fun, hop in a taxi and head to St. Lawrence Gap, referred to more simply as “The Gap”, and immerse yourself in Barbados’ liveliest nightlife. Here, in St. Lawrence Gap, rum shacks and dance halls are a must-do for visitors. For the more adventurours, enjoy some lounge-hopping at clubs like Reggae, Sugar Ultra, and Lipgloss. Head to the Old Jam Inn for “Booze, Beats, and Burgers” or enjoy cocktails at Sharkey’s Restaurant.

  • Barbados Crop Over Festival (May-August): Attracting thousands of people from across the globe, this festival is Barbados’ most popular tourist attraction. From costumes, bikinis, contests and competitions, to parades, marches, ceremonies and shows, live music and tasty treats are never too far out of reach.   • Barbados Jazz Festival (January): A one-week festival of live music featuring local artists. Barbados.org has all the info you need to get in on the fun.
  • Bridgetown, Barbados: From hockey, food, wine and rum festivals, swimming championships, to rugby, tennis, cricket and dominos tournaments, Bridgetown of Barbados is where all of the islands major annual events take place.

Rockley Beach weather

Barbados has great beaches for family funJanuary and December are the coldest months with an average minimum temperature of 73°F and an average maximum temperature of 86°F. The average summer temperature is 88°F whereas the average winter temperature is 84°F. The average annual high for the island of Barbados is 86°F with an average annual low of 68°F. Dry season begins in December and ends in June, whereas the wet season begins in July and ends in November.
