Where in the World was GoGirlfriend in 2012?

GoGirlfriend's year in travel

The turkey's been stuffed, roasted and devoured. The gifts wrapped and unwrapped. The spiked eggnog, thankfully, is still flowing and we're here to wish you an outrageous amount of good cheer to last you through New Year's Eve.

Gogirlfriends at DisneyGogirlfriends at DisneyWhile lounging in our jammies (recovering from ...well, you know) we'd like to take a moment to review all we've seen and done in 2012. For us, the end of the year serves as a reminder of all that we've been privileged to experience and enjoy. It's also a bit of a kick in the pants to get more traveling in next year.

This year, GoGirlfriend celebrated some very sweet rewards. We welcomed budding travel writer, Meaghan Coneybeare, as our community manager. And we celebrated our 5th birthday, looking back at our humble beginnings to celebrate the hard lessons and sweet rewards.

2012 - GoGirlfriend's year in review

life storieslife storiesJulia's Musings - I began publishing essays on Sundays this year, stories previously written for print publications. It's been fun to breathe new life into these stories told from my heart and watch a new audience's reaction. My faves so far are: Wish I Were Here, Finding My Authentic Self and Well Furnished With Love. What's your fave?

Las Vegas - Did you know that Las Vegas is the most searched city on Yahoo? We started the year with some fun additions to our Las Vegas directory, thanks to our visits in January and July. Visiting Sin City twice this year, we stayed at Vdara and Trump - and have plans to stay at the Luxor in a few weeks. So many hotels - and thankfully, so many Vegas tradeshows.

New York City - I spoke at the renowned 140 conference in June in NYC and we made use of every second of our time in the city. Read our top (so far) NYC Recommendations.

ballooning over the Rio Grandeballooning over the Rio GrandeClose to (our) home travel - We explored a bounty of travel gems all within a few hours drive of our home: Stratford Ontario Weekend Getaway, Toronto's Royal York, London,

GoGirlfriend community grows - A whole new group of writers joined the GoGirlfriend community. Greg Lehman, Lisa McDonald, Bianca Osborne and Anne Dimon ... to name a few.

Seizing adventure - Business trips can be challenging. This year, we promised ourselves to change up the mundane and grab adventure at every available turn. With only a few hours to spare in Orlando, we grabbed Disney by the Hakuna Matata's...so to speak.

falling in love with the Ford Escapefalling in love with the Ford EscapeGG Escape 2012 - Working with Ford Canada and Lansdowne Resort, we took off for North Carolina and tweeted, facebooked and youtubed our journey. The end result was GoGirlfriend's first sponsored contest and an advertising contract.

Reviewing cool, new products - We've been blessed to work with incredible brands like Ford and Dove and love that we're finishing off 2012 testing out the Nokia 920 and it's amazing Windows platform. Color us impressed!

Well, now that 2012 is over, let's do it again! This year, we have big plans to grow GoGirlfriend in seriously BIG ways. We're working on our editorial calendar and we'd love your input. What do you want to see from us? How would you like to be part of it?

I'd love to hear from you. Shout out to us on Facebook or Twitter and let's start talking!
