Sarah McLachlan shows how easy it is to travel with a tot in tow

For recording star, Sarah McLachlan, it doesn't matter whether she's playing for an audience of thousands or her 8-month-old. Both expect standing-ovation output each and every time, and they'll let her know when she comes up short.

Underneath her glamorous lifestyle, she's just a modern mom walking the tricky tightrope of balancing motherhood with a demanding career.

Traveling BabyTraveling BabyEarlier this week, McLachlan flew from Vancouver to Toronto with Taja Summer, born last June. And it wasn't an easy flight - take-off was delayed for 3 ½ hours on the tarmac.

"She had three naps on the plane and just slept and laughed and slept," said McLachlan in an interview with CP. "You know, you bring an infant into business class and everybody, you can just see them all going, 'Ugh,' and I said, 'She's really good, it'll be OK!"'

How does she do it? Showing up prepared is a good start. Getting a good night's sleep comes in a close second though.

If you're traveling with your baby, make sure you're prepared for every possible scenario - both on the runway and at your destination.

To help you out, we've got some tried and tested tips to get you from the getting the right kind of travel diaper bag to dealing with jetlag - for you and your baby.

As for McLachlan, she's the first to admit she's not supermom and couldn't stay on that tightrope without her nanny.

"I'm 40 now and I know emotionally and physically just what I'm capable of and what I'm capable of giving - and knowing the expectations, knowing what's needed from me, this is what I can manage and do a really good job at. Who knows, maybe I'll adopt another kid in 10 years, maybe I'll have some second wind in my late 40s or early 50s, but right now I'm pretty damn tired."

I hope you were being ironic

I hope you were being ironic when you said "Good for Sarah! She and Angelina Jolie show the rest of us how family travel can be done."

Showing us how it is done? Sure, if we could all afford professional help looking after our children and organizing our lives. With all the pressure on women to be career women and "yummy mummys", shouldn't we be looking for and promoting more realistic role models?

Good for Sarah! She and

Good for Sarah! She and Angelina Jolie show the rest of us how family travel can be done. And in a way, there's practically no age limit: Go on a luxury babymoon vacation while still pregnantis a real treat for moms-to-be (and dads too).
