Forbes Billionaires Need Vacation Makeovers
Get an Upgrade! While I use technology created by the world's richest on a day to day basis, they get to go on much more fabulous vacations than the rest of us. But instead of spending their fabulous wealth hanging out on private beaches or climbing mountains, they spend their holidays (if they take them) working, or doing nothing at all.
I say let your PA handle it. These bigwigs are getting a vacation overhaul.
Leave town
Mark Zuckerberg, creator of Facebook, is the world's youngest self-made billionaire at 23. And his 2007 vacation was spent hanging out with his family. This year Mark, charter a private jet, fly to Tahiti, and hang out with the fam in a tropical paradise. You may not care how you spend your money, but I'm sure your 3 siblings will appreciate the upgrade.
Stop working
That's right, Warren, it's time to stop. You need to kick back and relax.Warren Buffett, who just surpassed Bill Gates as the world's richest man, spends his vacations working. Now that you've made it big, Buffett, try turning the blackberry off.
Take a short vacation with your wife, and don't keep in touch with the folks back home. If that's too much to handle, take the technology with you, but only turn it on for 10 minutes a day. Check your messages, find out that the world hasn't changed too much, and don't return a call unless there's a genuine emergency going on.
Give something back
Lakshmi Mittal made number 4 on the list, but he's a chronic culprit for overwork. His quests for a little peace and quiet always lands him in the middle of another investment.Mittal, it's time for a volunteer vacation - if you can't resist the urge to invest, at least you'll be making the world a better place (and the tax-deduction will appeal to your savvy business sense).
Billionaire or barely breaking even, take some time out this year for yourself: Turn your phone off, leave the laptop at home, and charge up your internal batteries.
