Luxury playground gets a $40 million renovation

Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino manages guest expectations during a $40 million renovation Aruba Marriott Resortwith a 'Construction Concierge.' Not sure what that is? Me neither.

Apparently the resort is undergoing a complete overhaul to the tune of $40 million and they want to ensure guests aren't disturbed by all the hammering and drilling. I'm not sure how a Construction Concierge can help, but I can imagine:

Me: I can hear hammering all night long. Can you make them stop?

CC: Ma'am, we have deadlines to meet, so I can't just tell them to stop working.

Me: ...blinking...

CC: But I can give you free bar tickets.

Me: How many?

What's even odder than the Construction Concierge is the timing. The Aruba Marriott Resort was voted one of the world's best places to stay by Conde Nast in 2006, but shabbiness must truly be in the eye of the beholder (or shareholder).

General Manager, Rick Zeolla says that just about everything in all the rooms will be new - paint, Aruba Marriott Resortbathroom fixtures, flooring, furniture, bedding and amenities. The lobby and atrium rooms are getting a facelift as well.

Makes perfect sense to me. Win a world-class award and promptly tear everything down that the judges loved so you can make it better. Isn't that like having your hair and nails done *after* your high school reunion?
