More tips for staying safe at a hotel

Groveland HotelGroveland HotelSafety concerns at a hotel don't stop at the door to your room. Remember our advice to never let the desk clerk announce your room number in a voice that anyone else can hear? Similar practices can keep you free from trouble when using the hotel facilities.

When you visit a hotel restaurant, lounge or (if it's notKathleen AmecheKathleen Ameche complimentary) health club, you'll want to charge the cost to your room. When you do, put your initials and room number on the check and hand it directly back to the server.

Don't leave any personal information on a table or a counter. Leaving your information unattended could make you vulnerable to predators. No one wants an unexpected visitor during the night, especially a woman traveling alone.

Take simple precautions, stay alert and vigilant and you'll remain in control of your own safety.
