Live your eco-adventure dreams in the fertile fields of St. Kitts

Lush rainforests with hidden waterfalls and secret St. Kitts Beach BikingSt. Kitts Beach Bikingtrails, brilliant green fields of sugarcane and a central mountain range dominated by Mt. Liamuiga are all packed into the shy 65sq mile St. Kitts. Pack your hiking shoes and prepare to get up close and personal with all this lush island has to offer.

Volcano Crater Adventures

If you're looking for a fun way to work off the midnight buffet, hike to the rim of Mt. Liamuiga - you'll be rewarded with a view of Crater Lake 700 ft below the rim and as well as an unbeatable vista of neighboring islands.

The climb is steep and tricky to maneuver at times - narrow ledges, tree roots and mud-covered trails - and will take you a healthy 5-7 hours roundtrip.

The tour guides at Greg's Safaris offer picnics at the rim and celebratory rum and juice at the end of the hike. The company is endorsed by a number of resorts on the island, cruise ships, major travel publications and us.

Dive Sites

St. Kitts boasts more than a dozen dive sites, complete with reefs and hundreds of underwater wrecks. Nag's Head is the best shallow-water dive site, St. Kitts DivingSt. Kitts Divingbut if you want to combine a snorkeling expedition with scuba-diving, Turtle Beach is your better choice. And if swimming with sharks, stingrays and lobsters floats your boat, head to Booby Shoals.

Book your dive excursion through your hotel or cruise or visit St. Kitts tourism. You can rent or buy just about everything you'll need on-site - except a decompression chamber.

Mountain Biking

The wind in your face, pumping your way across dozens of roads through cane fields, rainforests and abandoned plantations. St. Kitts is the ultimate combo package.

Most of the roads are long loops, suitable for beginners and intermediates, but some hills (combined with the heat) will surprise even the most ardent pedal pushers. Our advice? Bring lots of water and take breaks.

To rent a bike or find a guide, speak to your hotel or cruise ship concierge. Most guides offer free transfers from Frigate Bay and Basseterre with a bike rental.
