The best of the best headline in N'awlins

Sing it, Sista!Sing it, Sista!Good fortune, the indomitable spirit of New Orleans and a healthy cash investment means this year's Jazz Fest in New Orleans may be the best in its history.

"We've got a lot of people that want to play this festival," said Jazz Fest producer/director Quint Davis. "People know this festival and want to play it."

Restoring the outdoor festival's second weekend created 62 additional performance slots, opening the door for national and local talent. And both are equally welcome here, because it just wouldn't be a jazz festival without authentic jazz.

If you're going, have a look around the newly restored Fair Grounds. There will be 11 stages and tents and more than 1,000 performers milling around. It's come a long way since it first began in 1969 with less than 400 attendees.

And you might want to start dieting now, because they don't serve food like this anywhere else in the world. And it would be a sin to miss the pralines, jambalaya, dirty rice and po-boys...
