Rejuvenating mind, body and relationship

I love hiking with unabashed passion, but not while I'm trying to drown myself in indulgence.

Love to Hike?Love to Hike? When I go to the spa, I want to get sweaty because I'm wrapped in mud or chocolate or maple sugar. Or because my partner is chasing me around the room.

I don't want to bargain with the clock or shin splints or my heart rate. I want to get outside my head long enough to forget why I absolutely need time away from my life.

My partner (bless his misplaced soul) supports me by offering walks in the woods (Can I top up my glass quickly first?)

I'll admit though that some of those spa "hikes" have been a refreshing stroll through our relationship. LastLake HuronLake Huron winter we visited The Little Inn of Bayfield just as the ice was breaking up on the lake. Massive chunks of ice pushed against the docks, constantly transforming themselves with each wave.

We held hands, walking slowly along the deserted beach. Sometime we talked, sometimes we just reveled in communing with each other in a way we rarely do during our everyday lives.

You could hardly call it a hiking spa vacation but it definitely exercised our connection with each other and with nature.

I'm flawed but, apparently, not completely hopeless.
