Sunny Naples Makes For a Relaxing Beach Getaway

Girlfriend Getaway GuideGirlfriend Getaway GuideBy Casey Wohl

My cousin Kelly lives in Portland, OR, so when she comes home to Florida, we make sure her visit is memorable. Kelly loves the beach, so we planned a Girls Getaway to Naples while she was recently in town.

Naples is a popular and charming beach destination on Florida's west coast along the Gulf of Mexico. It boasts world-class hotels and resorts along miles of white sand beaches. Wonderful shopping opportunities exist here for antiques, home furnishings, clothes and jewelry. With its beautiful neighborhoods and grand architecture, the atmosphere is elegant, yet relaxing.

Sports enthusiasts spend glorious days pursuing their favorite activity, from golf to tennis to fishing. There are restaurants to suit every taste and budget. Even though it's a busy and cosmopolitan city, Naples offers easy access to secluded islands and the wilderness of the Everglades.

  • Ritz Carlton Naples: You can't go wrong with a stay at the Ritz. Everything is first class and we were upgraded to an ocean view room once we arrived. The staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. The room was fantastic, and the pool and beach areas were impeccable. We enjoyed lunch by the pool, along with refreshments.
  • Zoe's: Located on the popular 5th Avenue, we dined at Zoe's and were very impressed by the extraordinary wine list. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a sampling of appetizers and great wine and martinis recommended by the bartender.
  • Fifth Avenue South: Visit the vast array of shops, galleries, restaurants, and sidewalk cafes along the promenades in this historic setting. Fifth Avenue is a unique place where visitors can surround themselves with small-town friendliness and historical landmarks, as well as a flavor and sophistication that is truly Naples.
