St. Lucia's rainforest is the perfect place to live out your sky-high fantasies

Rainforest Sky RidesRainforest Sky RidesIf you're cruising the Caribbean and want to do something more exciting explore the buffet table, step up to a zip lining adventure at Rainforest Sky Rides Eco Park.

If you're like me (and don't always get along with heights) zip lining is an almost sure-fire way to conquer your fear. The adventure starts with a half-hour open-air gondola ride through the rainforest. You'll be asked to wear a hairnet and helmet - I understood why after hitting my head repeatedly on the cable.

Unlike some canopy tour companies, the 11 platformsConquering FearConquering Fear here are uber-secure - and the only way out is to keep moving forward. At each platform, our guide secured us to the tree with a monkeytail clip, and then secured us 3 different ways to the cables before setting us loose again.

In the first video you'll see me take off from the platform, and in the second video you'll see me arrive. I didn't know I was being videoed, but I can thankfully report I didn't voice all the expletives running through my head as I whizzed from platform to platform.

I've read enough self-help books to earn my PhD in conquering fear, but zip lining did something none of those books did for me. It put me face to face with my fear and forced me to take a stand - because there really is no graceful way out if you can't zip line.

I love when I can combine conquering my fears with having the time of my life.

Want to see how hot-doggers zip line through the canopy, check out Zip Lining through St. Lucia.
