Bound for Beijing in August 2008?

If you're lucky enough to score tickets, you'll be treated to a completely transformed city - 3 new subway lines, a new airport terminal, newly laid highways throughout the city and much, much more. But buying tickets will be about as much fun as running through a thorny thicket in shorts.

Olympic Event Tickets

The official distributor, Cosport, sold the first phase of tickets via a lottery system - they're all gone. But the Bound for BeijingBound for Beijingsecond phase launches this month - you can get these on a first come, first served basis.

Of course, you can always try an alternate source, but be prepared to pay as much as $3000US just to get into the opening ceremony. By next summer you'll likely be able score seats through eBay and other online ticket liquidators, but if you have your heart set on specific events, going through an official channel early is your best bet.

Beijing Accommodations

You'll be able to find adequate accommodations through CoSport, but don't expect a bargain - average rate is about $1000 per night.

Olympic GamesOlympic GamesBut, this is the Internet after all, and there are options. If you know which Olympic events you want to attend, visit a hostel booking site like Hostel World or Hostel Bookers and choose based on location, date and the amount you're willing to spend.

If you really want to immerse yourself into the cultural, political and economic center of China, consider lodging with a family - homestays are $400US-$600US per month. We recommend:
