Forbes Richest - Travel Any Way They Want!
Would being a millionaire change the way you travel?
Warren Buffet shoved Bill Gates off the throne when Forbes crowned him the "Richest Man in the World" on the Forbes list of richest people. To add insult to injury, Mexican telecom tycoon, Carlos Slim Helu slipped into second place leaving poor Bill holding the bronze medal.
Rich! Our sympathies go out to ya, Bill, though I suspect you won't be flying steerage anytime soon.
All this talk of tycoons raking in obscene amounts of money got me thinking if I'd travel differently if I were a millionaire, billionaire or even kajillionaire. Would I upgrade just because I could? Would I through budget travel to the wind and throw money around like, I don't know, Paris Hilton?
You're damn right I would. How you ask? Let me count the ways.
- I'd never, ever fly steerage again. Heck, I'd buy myself a private jet and park it in my driveway.
- Money would never again be a deciding factor when booking a hotel room.
- I'd rent out Disney World for a day a year for all the kids I know.
- I'd probably stop staying at hotels and just buy houses all around the world.
- I'd toy with the idea of indulging in the World's Most Expensive Dessert
- I'd live my dream of camping out indefinitely at a 6-star spa - probably somewhere in Dubai.
- Wherever I traveled, I'd bring family, friends and adoring fans - just for the fun of it.
On second thought, it's a good thing I'm not a billionaire. I'd miss out on all the authentic travel experiences that make travel so delicious. And I'll be the first one to admit my travel fantasies aren't exactly environmentally friendly.
Would you change the way you travel if you suddenly found yourself disgustingly rich? Would you upgrade yourself or not?
