50 best vacations to take your kids on

If you've been wondering where to take your kids this summer, Disney would like you to consider their newest travel site a good place to start your planning. This week Disney announced the launch of Family.Go.com, an online travel site for families of young kids that explores 50 family vacations in America.

But it's not TripAdvisor.

Family FunFamily FunYou won't find the best deals here or unbiased advice. What you'll get is typical Disney, packaged in pretty pastels and lots of encouraging, prosaic words to make you feel good.

"Our goal is to help parents plan a great family vacation, a task that can be daunting when you're not sure what destinations and places to see are family-friendly," said Emily Smith, Vice-President of the Disney Family Group. "We want parents to come to our site, explore the various destinations and say ‘my kid would love that,' so we're really empowering them with a lot of new travel options and information ranging from age-specific ideas to nearby kid friendly restaurants."

You can search by destination or by the type of vacation you're looking for with age-appropriate recommendations for places to eat, sleep and play. Yellowstone National Park, New York and The Grand Canyon are just a few of the destinations you can explore.

Still, it is Disney, and Disney gets what kids like. We like the age-appropriate suggestions and the suggested itineraries.

We're not impressed with the "Favorite Vacation Moments," which sound more like "Very Brady Vacation Moments" than real life.

I would love to see some real parents post some real challenges and see how Disney handles them. There's nothing there about what to do when your child throws up on the rollercoaster.

Over a crowd of people waiting in the line below.

Not that I've ever experienced that before.

Recently anyway...

Where do you start your research when you're traveling with your kids?
