Battle of the Bods
Reality TV gives us yet another reason to worry about swimsuit season
Battling with Your Body?I don't know any woman who likes shopping for a swimsuit. Even my friend who barely fills out a -2 still thinks her thighs jiggle and worries about that tricky spot under her arms.
If you're packing for a mid-winter getaway, you understand the pain. You're not alone, sister.
A new reality show, Battle of the Bods (Fox Reality, Sundays at 1am ET), based in Los Angeles has set out to prove all that body-conscious angst is good for ratings - if not for swimsuit shopping.
During the first episode, 5 women were trotted out on stage and judged by "surfer dudes" behind a screen. They assessed the women's sexual desirability individually first and then ranked them on a scale of 1-5.
But they didn't stop there. They delved into deeper and ranked their gams, the prettiness of their faces and, of course, their rack.
And then the hen fighting started with the girls sizing up and then tearing down their fellow contestants. The girl who came in last place (and also happened to be the most outspoken) stomped off stage in tears.
Thankfully, all the girls came away with $300 for their troubles. Not even enough to cover the therapy they'll likely need a few years from now when all that firm flesh goes south for real.
The reason we hate swimsuit shopping is because we have to look in the mirror. Get us on a white sandy beach (where we don't have to zoom in on all our excess flesh) and it's all good.
Add a margarita to the mix and all that angst miraculously disappears.
Anyone going swimsuit shopping soon? Here's hoping the store you choose has invested in slimming mirrors!
