The endless battle between a girl and her suitcase

Pack and Travel in StylePack and Travel in StyleIf you can never follow a suggested packing list, rest assured, neither can we. The classic capsule has given rise to some strange suggestions. And we admit it. We're guilty. But it's still not right.

A bathing suit was never meant to be used as an evening top!

It is possible to bring all you need this holiday (on the beach or with your family) without succumbing to extremes. Follow our tips and you'll fit into that size small suitcase, gifts and all.

  • Plan ahead for comfort and joy: Decide if you'll spend the week in pajamas, bathing suits or chic separates. Knowing exactly what you'll need will help pair down all the extras.
  • Load your sleigh: Order presents for delivery, have them couriered, or arrange a pick up at your destination. With Amazon you can order as late as December 21. And remember, gift cards are the miracle present - always the right size for the giver and receiver.
  • Trim the fat:  Don't waste space. Pare down and pack efficiently. If you follow Julia's advice, you'll have all the clothes you need, without the wrinkles.
  • Deck the halls: If you're staying in a hotel for the holidays pack a few decorations, candles or even a mini tree. You'll be surprised how a few touches of the season will brighten your holiday space.
