Part 1 - A country spa with a Hollywood twist

How about this for a novel spa idea? An innkeeper who is also a qualified esthetician and offers specialty spa treatments and personally greets guests when they arrive?

HighFields Country Inn & SpaHighFields Country Inn & SpaNorma Daniel, HighFields owner, isn't interested in being the biggest or showiest spa in Ontario - but she is committed to offering her personal best to each and every guest. So getting away from your daily grind and checking into HighFields can feel more like staying with friends than it does an inn.

Spa Overview

The 10 treatment rooms at HighFields are spread overNorma Daniels, InnkeeperNorma Daniels, Innkeeper two floors and the spa lounge is also the inn's entranceway. The lower floor of the spa houses another cozier lounge with a fireplace, but be sure to let Daniel know if you choose to wait there for your therapist. It may be a small inn, but therapists use the front desk as their central meeting space with guests. At first blush it feels disjointed, but the relaxed country atmosphere helps smooth over the rough edges.

If you choose a hydrotherapy body treatment, you'll be upstairs in the newly renovated wet room. Near the HighFields SpaHighFields Spahoneymoon suite, you'll find the pedicure room with massage chair and the infrared sauna is in another part of the inn beside the restaurant. The fitness room, sauna, showers and 6 additional treatments are all in the lower level.

You won't find traditional spa treatment rooms here - 3 of the rooms are oversized and have multiple beds to accommodate groups. Each therapist has her own room and while there is a common decorating theme throughout, you'll find a unique personality in each room. The manicure station overlooks the grounds in the lower level lounge.

The treatments offered here are as unique as the owner, running the gamut from high-tech facials favored by Hollywood royalty to EBR Cellular Cleanse toCelebrity SpaCelebrity Spa Zen massage therapy. Many of the treatments Daniel designs are cutting edge and unusual for spas outside the high-end realm. Hugh Grant, Geena Davis, Jim Carrey and Ray Romano are just a few actors who've shot films in the area and checked into Highfields for some of the innovation Daniel offers.
