Intimate, classic and almost ready to open for the summer season

The last time I traveled to Vancouver, the Capilano Suspension Bridge was priority number one on my partner's must-see list. I chickened out (something I regret now) but my partner didn't (something he's insanely proud of).

Cathedral Mountain LodgeCathedral Mountain LodgeEven more than not bucking up my courage to cross the bridge, I'm disappointed we didn't make time to visit Cathedral Mountain Lodge. It closes every October and re-opens in May. Although I'm sure the snow is beautiful, road conditions become nearly impassable during the winter months.

If you've never been, it's Cathedral Mountain LodgeCathedral Mountain Lodgesituated inside Yoho National Park, which means you'll be treated to hiking trails that go on forever. And it's only a short drive from Takakkaw Falls (second in height to Niagara Falls), Emerald, Moraine and Lake Louise.

There's no spa onsite (something we hope they'll correct soon) but there's also no shortage of things to do. Guided hikes, helicopter tours, horseback riding, Lake Louise Gondola tours - nature any way you want it.

Cathedral Mountain LodgeCathedral Mountain LodgeTo kick off their 2008 season, Cathedral Mountain Lodge is offering up to 50% off room rates from May 16 to May 31. And if you book online by May 15 for a stay later in the season you'll receive 15% off regular rates (packages not included).

The Capilano Group of Companies (CGC) owns both properties, as well as Treetops Adventure in Vancouver and Moraine Lake Lodge near Lake Louise.

Nancy Stibbard, CEO of CGC purchased the lodge in 2001 and immediately began adding additional cabins and renovating the existing property. Architect, Brad Lamoureux, wanted the inside of the lodge to reflect the scenic views outside and incorporated an indoor/outdoor river rock fireplace, vaulted ceilings and oversized windows.

Need some inspiration? Visit Cathedral Mountain Lodge online. Prepare yourself - it's an open invitation to the vacation of your dreams.

Seriously, they had me with the first picture on the home page - where do I sign up?
