Pollen isn't the only thing in the air at Malibu Creek State Park

Reese Witherspoon may not be smitten enough to jump back into an "I-Do" with her Jake Gyllenhaal, but she seems to have a case of spring fever. A walk in the woods, a picnic by the shore, a game of Frisbee... We can't think of a better way to wash away the winter blahs and welcome spring.

Reese Witherspoon and Jake GyllenhallReese Witherspoon and Jake GyllenhaalReese, her son Deacon and her beau, Jake Gyllenhaal, have inspired us to rediscover California State Parks. The trio (along with a friend) spent the afternoon there this week, and from the photos, it was perfect spring day.

A short 25 miles from downtown Los Angeles, Malibu Creek State Park lets you kick back and enjoy the outdoors without a long drive from the city. Although Deacon's a little young to enjoy the 15 miles of stream-side trails, there's bird watching, horseback riding and even fishing.

The park was home to Chumash Native Americans for centuries and although Planet of the Apes and M*A*S*H were both filmed here, park authorities have managed to preserve more than 4,000 acres of sycamore woodlands.

If you go, remember dogs are allowed in the day useReese and DeaconReese and Deacon and campground areas, but not on backcountry trails. The day use area is open 7 days a week from dawn to dusk, but the visitor center is only open on weekends.

For more information, visit Malibu Creek State Park online or call 1-818-880-0367.

Have you been to Malibu Creek State Park? Another California state park? What did you love best about it?
