Bougainvillea Beach Resort - Barbados
There's no place like here
Every one of the 138 rooms at the Bougainvillea Resort opens onto either the garden terrace (poolside) or beach. The hotel is in need of a renovation, but
Bougainvillea Beach Resortexceptional service, a pristine beach and more activity options than you'll ever want to exercise make it a favorite of U.K, and Canadian tourists.
The resort sits on the meeting place of the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, which means whitecaps, cool breezes and powder-soft sand that dares you to bury your return ticket.
Not an ocean swimmer? No problem. Three separate pools (one with a swim-up bar) will coax your shoulders to release all that stored-up stress.
The resort is not all-inclusive because, according to Dawn Kirton, sales and marketing coordinator, the island just has too much to offer. She recommends
Bougainvillea Beach Resortusing the resort as a home base and taking lots and lots of day trips. "I'm a local and I still love the Safari tour - it has something for everyone."
All beaches in Barbados are public, which means the beach at the Bougainvillea stretches on forever - great for walks along the shore. Beach vendors are permitted to sell from stationary stands, but only with a permit.
While the shore here is sandy, I don't recommend swimming in the ocean unless you're a strong swimmer.
I went body surfing with my camera-man and ended
Bougainvillea Beach Resortup being dragged along the ocean floor, losing my bikini and completely understanding the term 'drowned rat.'
I'd do it again in a second, though....
Wanna see the video we shot? No bikini shots - just a Barbadian mind-break.
